24 HOURS IN PARIS WITH DEBORAH BRETT
‘The Hera dress is such a perfect city break dress,’ says Mondo muse and Wardrobe Icons’ Fashion Editor-at-Large, Deborah Brett. The editor and artist – whose style we’ve long adored – packed our new-season shirt dress for a recent trip to Paris with her husband Tom, to celebrate a friend’s special birthday.
‘We left the kids back in London, so in between partying at night with friends, we took the opportunity to saunter round Paris and enjoy the weather,’ says Deborah, who wore her midnight-blue linen Hera dress for a day of exploring the city, from shopping in Galeries Lafayette to strolling through the Jardin des Tuileries and along the banks of the Seine.
‘We visited the Fondation Louis Vuitton in the Bois de Boulogne to see the Basquiat x Warhol exhibition – which was brilliantly curated – and even popped up onto the roof of the Gehry-designed museum. A real treat for architecture fans.’ Also on Deborah’s Paris list: patisseries at Des Gâteaux et du Pain Claire DAMON on Rue du Bac, the food court at Le Bon Marché, and lunch at Hotel Costes – she is a woman after our own hearts.
Do like Deborah and layer Hera with a simple white Frankie Shop T-shirt. ‘I love the pop of white underneath, it really adds freshness and brightens the complexion,’ she says. ‘Plus it adds a layer of warmth when there’s a chill in the air without needing to add a cardigan.’ The final touch? A pair of flat, pom pom-adorned sandals by Lanvin, a basket bag and cat-eye sunglasses.
As for evening styling, Deborah says, ‘To move my outfit into nighttime territory, I would add a simple, strappy sandal in either white or tan and a beautiful chunky necklace for a touch of glamour.’ It’s proof indeed that Hera is a long weekend essential, wherever you’re jetting off to.
